Recent Job Done – New PC for a client in Mount Waverley
We had a client ring us from Mount Waverley after her computer started showing signs of wear like slowing down upon shutdowns and restarts. Being an old Dell desktop – it was on its last leg. Approximate boot time was around 4 minutes. Our tests showed some bad sectors on her struggling Seagate hard drive.

She had seen the Windows 11 prompts to upgrade the PC but couldn’t as the PC didn’t meet the system requirements. No TPM 2.0, CPU failed requirements etc. She also had issues synching her Bigpond emails using her email client – Mozilla Thunderbird.
Her Kaspersky antivirus was also throwing different messages on the screen too – warning about Windows being outdated etc.
We offered to visit her the same day and broke the news that the PC was not compatible with Windows 11 and that there were two options moving forward: Replace the HDD on her old PC with a new SSD and stay on the old PC until late 2026 with the Windows 10 Extended Security updates or move to new desktop.
She weighed the costs – obviously she needed to move away from the old desktop at some stage, so she went with a new PC.
Obviously, as most users – she was torn between a desktop or a laptop. We recommended a new desktop rather than a laptop as she was mostly a desk user, already had a monitor, keyboard and mouse in place. She mentioned that she was comfortable using a desktop as that was what she had been used to all her life.

512GB NVMe SSD
Basic build, no GPU needed for her needs. Nothing fancy. The Intel UHD was more than sufficient for her needs of browsing, watching a few videos online and of course – banking. Basic motherboard. We did go for a more modern case as shown in the picture as she mentioned that the old PC looked like a dinosaur! 😊
We cloned + upgraded her computer to Windows 11 such that it retained everything as is. Fixed issues with her Thunderbird client too.
Delivered the PC the following Monday, installed her HP Deskjet 3755 and she was very happy with the setup. On the day we also set up a backup system with Macrium reflect as she was a bit anxious that she hasn’t had any backups done for years.
