Narre Warren North is a well-established residential suburb sitting north of Narre Warren with a strong community of families, home based workers and small businesses across a mix of older established homes and newer developments. Storage upgrades are one of the most common jobs we get called out for in the area, particularly on newer budget and mid-range laptops that ship from the factory with undersized 128GB or 256GB SSDs that fill up within the first year of normal use. When a drive is full or near-full, Windows performance degrades significantly, backups stop working, updates fail to install and users often assume the machine is broken when the fix is a straightforward storage upgrade. Virus and malware infections are a regular call from Narre Warren North as well, particularly on family machines with multiple users. NBN connectivity on FTTN infrastructure serving parts of the suburb is another ongoing frustration, with ageing modems producing dropouts that ISP support teams cannot identify through remote diagnostics. Wi-Fi coverage across the larger homes on bigger blocks throughout the suburb also generates regular calls, with back rooms, alfresco areas and home offices sitting well out of reach of a single router positioned near the NBN connection point. Whether you’re dealing with an Acer laptop showing a storage full warning after less than a year of use, an HP desktop with a KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE BSOD after a driver conflict or a home network that collapses whenever more than a few devices are connected simultaneously, we will troubleshoot your problems and fix it with a minimal amount of fuss.
Can’t find a solution? You don’t pay a cent.

Recent Job – Acer Swift SF314-41 SSD Upgrade 128GB to 1TB, Narre Warren North
A client in Narre Warren North contacted us after their Acer Swift SF314-41 laptop had become almost unusable. Windows was showing a constant low storage warning, updates were failing to install and the machine had slowed significantly over the past few months. The client was a small business owner using the laptop for QuickBooks, email and document work and the 128GB factory SSD had filled up with business files, software installations and Windows update cache to the point where less than 3GB of free space remained.
The Acer Swift SF314-41 ships with a 128GB M.2 SATA SSD, which is an undersized drive by any practical measure for a machine in daily business use. It uses an M.2 2242 form factor rather than the more common M.2 2280, which is an important distinction. M.2 2242 drives are shorter than standard M.2 2280 drives and not all replacement SSD options are available in that size. Fitting a 2280 drive requires either a physical adapter bracket or confirmation that the chassis has clearance, which it does not on the SF314-41 without modification.
We confirmed the slot type and sourced a Crucial MX500 1TB M.2 SATA SSD in the correct 2242 form factor. We chose the Crucial MX500 because it is one of the few quality 1TB SATA SSDs available in the M.2 2242 form factor, it uses 3D NAND with a reliable controller that delivers consistent sustained performance under the daily business workloads this machine handles and it carries a three year warranty.
We cloned the existing 128GB drive to the new 1TB SSD using sector level cloning, extended the Windows partition to use the full 1TB capacity after the clone, confirmed all business software and files were intact and ran the machine through a full functional test. Storage warnings gone, updates installed without issue, machine running at normal speed. Client had room for years of business files going forward.
Frequently Asked Questions – Computer Repairs Narre Warren North
My laptop keeps showing a storage full warning after less than a year. Can I upgrade the drive?
Yes, in most cases the original drive can be upgraded to a larger capacity SSD. The upgrade path depends on which M.2 form factor your specific laptop uses. Some models use the standard M.2 2280 size and others like the Acer Swift SF314-41 use the shorter M.2 2242 form factor, which limits available options. We assess your specific model before recommending a drive and handle the cloning and partition extension so your existing data, applications and Windows installation all transfer cleanly. Read our computer upgrades service page and our post on why SSD capacity matters for performance for more detail.
My laptop is slow and keeps running out of storage. Are these related?
Yes, directly. Windows requires a minimum amount of free space to operate normally, typically around 10 to 15 percent of total drive capacity. When a drive drops below this threshold Windows cannot write temporary files, install updates or manage virtual memory properly, which causes the kind of progressive slowdown and failure to update that clients in Narre Warren North describe when their original 128GB factory SSD fills up. An SSD upgrade resolves both problems simultaneously. Read our post on how we rescued a slow machine with a storage upgrade for more context.
Do you come out to Narre Warren North the same day?
Yes, in most cases we can be at your home or business the same day. Call us on 0484 357 559 or hit the book now button and one of our technicians will get back to you quickly.
My NBN keeps dropping out and my ISP says the line is fine. What could it be?
ISP line testing only checks signal quality at the exchange end. Problems with the modem, poor quality cabling between the NBN connection point and the modem or joins on the telephone line are invisible to remote diagnostics but can cause significant dropout and performance issues. Read our guide on why home internet keeps dropping out and our post on what to try when NBN keeps dropping out.
Can you upgrade storage on any laptop brand?
In most cases yes, provided the laptop has an accessible M.2 or SATA drive bay. Some ultra-thin models have the SSD soldered directly to the motherboard which makes a standard swap impossible, but this is less common on mainstream consumer laptops. We assess the specific model before quoting to confirm what is possible. Read our laptop repairs service page for more detail.
Do you work on both Windows and Mac in Narre Warren North?
Yes, we work on both Windows computers and Apple Macs including MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Minis. We handle everything from SSD upgrades and virus removal to RAM upgrades and full network installs.
What warranty do you provide on repairs?
We back all our work with a 12-month workmanship guarantee, well above the three month standard most repair shops offer. If we can’t find a solution, you don’t pay a cent.
Do you service surrounding areas as well as Narre Warren North?
Yes, we also service Narre Warren, Berwick, Harkaway and Fountain Gate. Feel free to pass our name on to your neighbours, workmates and sports groups.
