Recent Job – Print Spooler Error Repair, Nepean Highway, Frankston

A client on Nepean Highway contacted us after their PC had completely stopped communicating with their EPSON inject printer. The printer was powered on, connected to the network and showing as online in Windows Devices and Printers, but every print job was being sent to the queue and immediately disappearing without printing. No error message appeared on screen and restarting both the PC and the printer made no difference.

The cause was a corrupted Windows Print Spooler service. The Print Spooler is the Windows background service that manages all print jobs between the operating system and the printer. When it corrupts or crashes it continues to appear as running in Windows Services but cannot process print jobs, which is why jobs appear to be sent but never actually print and why no error message appears. Simply restarting the service resolves temporary crashes but not persistent corruption, which requires clearing the spooler queue files and reregistering the service dependencies.

We cleared the contents of the Windows spool folder, stopped and restarted the Print Spooler service, reregistered the dependent DLL files through an elevated command prompt and reinstalled the EPSON printer driver cleanly.
