Toorak is one of Melbourne’s most prestigious inner suburbs, home to a mix of established families, professionals, retirees and a significant older resident population living in the gracious homes and apartment buildings that line the suburb’s leafy streets. The tech problems we deal with regularly in Toorak reflect that demographic. Apple Mac repairs are a constant call from the suburb, with MacBook Pros suffering from dried thermal paste after years of sustained use and iMacs running slowly on ageing Fusion Drives that have never been upgraded. Apple account and software support is another regular job, particularly among older and senior residents who rely on their iPhones and Macs for daily communication and encounter Apple ID, iCloud and two-factor authentication issues that are genuinely confusing without hands-on guidance. Small business and home office support is also a recurring need in Toorak, with professionals running home offices from the suburb’s larger properties needing proper network setups, printer configurations and Microsoft 365 environments that work reliably. Wi-Fi coverage across the larger homes with multiple levels and separate wings is a persistent frustration, and apartment buildings throughout the suburb suffer from the channel congestion that affects all dense inner suburban living. Whether you’re dealing with an iCloud account you cannot sign into, a MacBook that keeps shutting down on video calls or a home office network that drops out at the worst possible moments, we will troubleshoot your problems and fix it with a minimal amount of fuss.

    Can’t find a solution? You don’t pay a cent.

Recent Job – Apple iCloud 2FA Issue, Orrong Road, Toorak

A client on Orrong Road contacted us on behalf of their elderly mother who had been locked out of her iCloud account. The senior resident had been prompted for a two-factor authentication code when trying to sign into iCloud on her Mac and had been waiting for the code to arrive as an SMS to her iPhone for over twenty minutes without receiving it. Several retries had produced the same result. The client had also tried on her behalf and was equally stuck.

The issue was not with the Apple ID itself but with SMS delivery. Older mobile numbers, particularly those on certain prepaid plans or accounts that have been inactive for extended periods, can experience delays or failures in receiving automated SMS messages from Apple’s authentication servers, either due to carrier filtering of short code messages or intermittent network delivery issues. The code was being generated by Apple correctly but was not reliably arriving at the handset. 2fa fix for Toorak client

The solution was straightforward once identified. Apple’s 2FA prompt includes a second option beneath the SMS field that most users overlook: instead of receiving a text message, Apple can call the trusted phone number and deliver the code as an automated voice message. We selected the phone call option on the Mac, the client’s mother received the automated call on her iPhone within seconds, heard the code read aloud and entered it successfully. iCloud access was restored immediately. We also walked the client through how to use the phone call option in future and confirmed her trusted phone number and trusted device list were both current to avoid similar issues going forward.

Frequently Asked Questions – Computer Repairs Toorak

I am not receiving my iCloud two-factor authentication SMS code. What can I do?

If the SMS code is not arriving, try the phone call option instead. On the Apple ID sign-in screen there is a link beneath the code entry field that says you did not receive a code, which gives you the option to have Apple call your trusted number and read the code aloud as an automated voice message. This bypasses SMS delivery entirely and works reliably when SMS delivery is failing due to carrier filtering or network issues. If the phone call option also fails, the next step is Apple’s account recovery process using a trusted device. Read our Mac and Apple device support page for more detail on the Apple issues we handle.

Can you help older or senior residents with Apple device and iCloud issues in Toorak?

Yes, absolutely. We regularly assist older and senior residents in Toorak and the surrounding inner suburbs with iCloud accounts, iPhone setup, Apple ID management and general Apple software questions. We take the time to explain clearly and make sure the client understands what has been done so they can manage it independently going forward. Call us on 0484 357 559 and we will be there the same day.

My iMac is running very slowly. Is it worth upgrading?

In most cases yes. Slow iMacs in Toorak are almost always caused by an ageing Fusion Drive where the SSD cache has filled and the system is running almost entirely off the slow spinning component. Replacing it with a pure SSD and upgrading the RAM delivers a dramatic improvement at a fraction of the cost of a new machine. Read our Mac SSD upgrade service page and our guide on Mac repair vs replacement for more detail.

Do you come out to Toorak the same day?

Yes, in most cases we can be at your home or business the same day. Call us on 0484 357 559 or hit the book now button and one of our technicians will get back to you quickly.

My Wi-Fi does not reach all areas of my large Toorak home. Can you fix that?

Yes, large homes with multiple levels and separate wings in Toorak are a regular Wi-Fi job for us. A properly designed mesh Wi-Fi system with nodes positioned throughout the property resolves dead zones completely. Read our Wi-Fi interference and coverage case study for more detail.

Do you work on both Windows and Mac in Toorak?

Yes, we work on both Windows computers and Apple Macs including MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Minis. We handle everything from iCloud support and Fusion Drive upgrades to RAM upgrades and full network installs.

What warranty do you provide on repairs?

We back all our work with a 12-month workmanship guarantee, well above the three month standard most repair shops offer. If we can’t find a solution, you don’t pay a cent.

Do you service surrounding areas as well as Toorak?

Yes, we also service South Yarra, Armadale, Malvern and Kooyong. Feel free to pass our name on to your neighbours, workmates and sports groups.
