Looking for computer repairs in Knoxfield?
Computer Technicians is here to help. Founded in 2016 and Aussie owned and operated, our hand-picked team of qualified computer engineers are extensively trained in all PC, Mac, laptop and desktop repairs and upgrades. We provide fast, same-day service to your home or business.
Knoxfield is a predominantly industrial and light commercial suburb in Melbourne’s outer east, home to a dense concentration of warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturing operators and small to medium businesses running along Stud Road, Scoresby Road and the surrounding industrial estates.
This character creates a very specific set of hardware problems we deal with regularly out here. Office workstations and laptops in industrial environments accumulate airborne dust and particulate matter at a significantly faster rate than in residential or commercial office settings, leading to CPU thermal throttling and premature PSU failures.
Network reliability is another constant issue in the Knoxfield industrial precinct, where multiple businesses sharing building infrastructure often find their NBN connections affected by interference from neighbouring operations or by poorly configured shared network equipment.
We also deal regularly with businesses in Knoxfield that have grown beyond what their original IT setup can handle, running too many devices off a single consumer grade router and wondering why their network keeps dropping out during business hours. Whether you’re dealing with a Dell Precision workstation throwing an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE BSOD after an NVMe drive failure, an HP desktop that keeps shutting down mid shift from a clogged PSU in a dusty warehouse office or a business network that cannot cope with the simultaneous demands of your team, we will troubleshoot your problems and fix it with a minimal amount of fuss.
Can’t find a solution? You don’t pay a cent.

Recent Job – Business Network Upgrade, Stud Road, Knoxfield
A client on Stud Road contacted us about their business network.
The office had four workstations, two laptops and a NAS device all connected through a consumer grade TP-Link Archer router that had been installed when the business first moved in. The network was dropping out regularly during business hours, particularly when multiple machines were accessing the NAS simultaneously or during large file transfers.
The TP-Link Archer was running at close to 100 percent CPU utilisation during file transfers, which is the classic symptom of a consumer grade router being pushed beyond its design limits by a small business workload. Consumer routers are designed for light household traffic and their processors cannot handle the simultaneous routing demands of multiple workstations running business software and accessing shared storage concurrently.
We replaced the TP-Link Archer with a Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Pro as the core network device and installed two UniFi U6 Pro access points throughout the office space to provide proper business grade Wi-Fi coverage. We chose Ubiquiti UniFi over alternatives like Netgear Business or TP-Link Omada for a specific reason.
The UniFi ecosystem gives granular traffic management controls, proper QoS configuration for prioritising business critical traffic over general browsing, and a centralised management dashboard that makes ongoing network monitoring straightforward without requiring expensive ongoing IT contracts. The client had four workstations with very different traffic profiles, heavy AutoCAD file transfers on two machines and lighter general use on the others, and properly configured QoS on the UniFi system allowed us to prioritise the CAD workstations without starving the other machines. Network dropouts stopped entirely after the upgrade and file transfer speeds to the NAS improved dramatically.
Frequently Asked Questions – Computer Repairs Knoxfield
What does an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE BSOD mean?
An INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error means Windows cannot read the drive it needs to boot from. This is almost always caused by a failing NVMe or SSD drive, a corrupted boot partition or in some cases a Windows update that has changed storage controller driver settings. If you are seeing this error your data may be at risk and you should call us immediately rather than attempting further recovery attempts yourself, as repeated failed boot attempts can accelerate drive degradation.
Our post on how we fixed a machine with an SSD on its last leg covers a similar scenario in detail.
Why does my office workstation keep failing faster than it should in Knoxfield?
Industrial and warehouse environments produce significantly more airborne dust and particulate matter than office environments, which accumulates on heatsinks, PSU intake fans and NVMe drive connectors far faster than normal. This causes premature thermal failures, PSU faults and drive degradation. Power quality issues from heavy machinery on shared industrial circuits add another layer of hardware stress. We recommend professional cleaning every six months for any machine in the Knoxfield industrial precinct.
Do you come out to Knoxfield the same day?
Yes, in most cases we can be at your home or business the same day. Call us on 0484 357 559 or hit the book now button and one of our technicians will get back to you quickly.
My business network keeps dropping out during working hours. Can you fix that?
Yes, business network reliability issues in Knoxfield are almost always caused by consumer grade routers being pushed beyond their design limits by small business workloads. We assess your network, identify the bottlenecks and upgrade to business grade equipment with proper QoS configuration for your specific traffic profile. Read our guide on small business IT support and our network installation service page for more detail.
Can you recover data from a failing drive before replacing it?
Yes, data recovery is always the first priority before any drive replacement. We use sector level cloning software that handles read errors gracefully and recovers the maximum possible data even from drives in advanced failure. Read more about our data recovery and backup service for more detail on how we approach this.
Do you work on both Windows and Mac in Knoxfield?
Yes, we work on both Windows computers and Apple Macs including MacBooks, iMacs and Mac Minis. We handle everything from BSOD diagnosis and data recovery to SSD and RAM upgrades and full business network installs.
What warranty do you provide on repairs?
We back all our work with a 12-month workmanship guarantee, well above the three month standard most repair shops offer. If we can’t find a solution, you don’t pay a cent.
Do you service surrounding areas as well as Knoxfield?
Yes, we also service Scoresby, Rowville, Wantirna and Ferntree Gully. Feel free to pass our name on to your neighbouring businesses and workmates.
